COURSE OVERVIEW
YOU NEED A SIA DOOR SUPERVISOR LICENCE TO DO TOP UP TRAINING. From 1st April 2021 learners wishing to start their SIA Door Supervisor Course should successfully complete their First Aid at Work training before they start their Door Supervisor course. From today (1 October 2021) all Door Supervision and Security Guard licence holders will need a first aid qualification and the new top-up training before they renew their licence. The top-up training requirements will only affect existing Door Supervision and Security Guard licence holders when they come to renew their licence. This means that these changes will roll out over the course of the next three years.
The Highfield Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Top Up) is awarded by Highfield Qualifications and sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). The RQF is a Qualification Framework regulated by Ofqual and CCEA Regulation. Learners should present their First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate* to their training provider before they start training. This certificate* must be valid for at least 12 months from the course start date.

UNIT 2. Principles of Using Equipment as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry

Know what actions to take in relation to global (or critical) incidents
UNIT 3. Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry

Understand physical interventions and the implications of their use.

Understand the risks associated with using physical intervention.

Understand how to reduce the risks associated with physical intervention.

Be able to use physical skills to protect yourself and others.

Be able to use non-pain compliant standing, holding and escorting techniques

Customers are able to choose a location of their choice upon purchasing the course.
How the course is delivered?
It is a blended course. Total time is 17 hours (minimum)

Online learning – minimum 3hrs 25 min eLearning must be done online prior to the course commencement date (you won't be allowed to start the course without completing it). You will be given access to our online portal.

Classroom learning – 15 hours learning is done in a classroom environment (face to face) over 2 days.
Document requirements
In line with the Security Industry Authority's documentation requirements, approved Highfield centres may accept the following forms of identification:
-
one identity document from the Group A list and two documents from the Group B list.
-
at least one document must show the learner's current address.
-
at least one document must show their date of birth.
It is the candidates’ responsibility to make sure the correct and valid documents are made available to SWBM ACADEMY. In line with the SIA (Security Industry Authority) documentation requirements, as an approved Highfield Qualifications Centre, we accept the following forms of identification:
Group A
-
a passport that is signed, current, and valid.
-
a driving licence photocard issued by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in the UK.
-
a driving licence photocard and its paper counterpart issued by the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) in Northern Ireland.
-
a UK original birth certificate issued within 12 months of birth.
-
a UK biometric residence permit card.

Group B
Unless stated otherwise, 2 forms of the same type of document will not be accepted. For example, we will not accept 2 council tax statements. We will only accept 1 council tax statement and 1 document of a different type.
-
a bank or building society statement from the last 3 months {we will accept 2 statements, but only if they are from different banks or building societies).
-
a utility bill (for example: gas, electric, telephone, water, satellite TV or cable TV) from the last 3 months.
-
a credit card statement from the last 3 months (we will accept 2 statements, but only if they are from different credit-card providers).

a council tax statement from the last 12 months
-
a mortgage statement from the last 12 months
-
a letter from the last 3 months from any of the following:

HM Revenue and Customs

the Department of Work and Pensions

a Jobcentre Plus -- or any other employment service

a local authority

a P45 or P60 tax statement from the last 12 months.

a paper version of a current UK driving licence (not the paper counterpart to a photocard).

a driving licence photocard issued by the DVA in Northern Ireland (not the paper counterpart).

a pension, endowment or ISA statement from the last 12 months a valid UK firearms licence with photo.

EXPIRED LICENCE
Can an expired SIA licence be renewed?
To apply for a front-line Door Supervisor or Security Officer licence, you must hold one of the current qualifications. However, in certain situations, SIA may accept an older qualification. (You must have a first aid qualification before you can take the training required for a Door Supervisor or Security Officer licence).
Older Qualifications
If you are applying for a door supervisor or Security Officer licence and you have held it before, SIA may accept an older qualification. They only do this if it has been less than 3 years since your old licence became inactive.
SIA may only accept an older qualification if both of the following statements are true:

it has been less than 3 years since your old licence became inactive.

you also hold one of relevant top-up qualifications listed below
If it has been longer than 3 years since your old licence became inactive, you need to get a new, current qualification before you can apply for a new licence.

Results
Results are available within 10 working days of the exams. HIGH PASS RATE / 99%
Certification
Successful candidates will receive Level 2 Award in Door Supervision Top Up & Level 3 Emergency First Aid Certificate from a recognised awarding body, Highfield.

How is the qualification assessed?
Paper based exams - It is divided into 3-units and is assessed through practical tests and 3 multiple-choice examinations (on the last day of the course). These units are as follows:
Unit 1: Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry
Externally set and marked multiple-choice question (MCQ) examination made up of 10 questions (20 minutes). Pass mark = 7 Correct answers
Unit 2: Principles of Using Equipment as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry
Externally set and marked multiple-choice question (MCQ) examination made up of 5 questions (10 minutes). Pass mark = 4 Correct answers
Unit 3: Physical Intervention Skills within the Private Security Industry
Externally set and marked multiple-choice question (MCQ) examination made up of 30 questions (45 minutes). Pass mark = 24 Correct answers
